Manitou - All Points North - Out Now
Wednesday, June 6, 2007

We're proud to announce the debut release of Manitou - All Points North. We
first ran in Manitou several years ago while performing in Detroit. A Detroit-native,
Manitou creates a dense blend of industrial ambient music that's inspired
by Dearborn space folks like Windy and Carl, Tomorrowland, Stars of the Lid
and some of the other Kranky folks mixed with a sort of pastoral and consonant,
almost orchestral space that brings Mahler, and Richard Strauss' quieter symphonic
passages to mind.
Manitou's All Points North is sonic-emotional triptych that happens in and
around Detroit. With the sounds and inspirations of the city coursing through
the tracks, you can almost feel the cool wind blowing off the Detroit River,
and the brush of the steam tunnel's eerie vapor across your skin. Manitou has
crafted a deeply evocative release that uses sparse captures of dense air
to create an almost seasonal urban ambient music. This is a release that we're
very excited about, and has been a really strong impetus to get things into
high gear over here at Slo.Bor central again. This release comes in a one-of-a-kind
letterpress-printed sleeve that's been designed and printed by Matt
Borghi at The Hand Work Press.
